Over the past few weeks, we've talked about the rise of coffee subscriptions throughout the United States and Canada. Today we're going to take a look at the newest market for coffee subscription boxes: the UK.
Subscription boxes are still a fairly new phenomenon in the UK, but there are already several excellent subscription services for the world's favourite caffeinated drink. Here are five of the best:
1. Has Bean
Has Bean offers a wide range of subscription plans, including weekly plans, biweekly plans and monthly plans. You can choose either whole roasted beans or freshly ground beans, and there are three different grinds available. Their subscriptions start at a base price of £30 for four 250G bags of coffee.
The Coffee Factory works hard to provide delicious, ethically sourced coffee beans to coffee lovers all over the UK. All of their subscriptions feature freshly roasted beans. They have two main subscription options: "Discovery", which sends you two different types of coffee each month, and "Classic", which features a single monthly bag of coffee. You get to choose between whole beans and pre-ground beans. Plans start at £7.50 per month.
3. Weanie Beans
Weanie Beans lets you buy a subscription to any of their coffees, and sends you a 250G bag of coffee every month. They have a required minimum of one year for all subscriptions, and the price of a subscription varies greatly based on the type of bean you want. The most affordable subscription costs £71 per year.
Perky Blenders offers highly customizable coffee subscriptions to people all over the UK. They let you choose your favorite type of coffee, your ideal grind (whole beans are an option), and how often you wish to receive your coffee. You can also ask them to surprise you with a randomly chosen coffee each month. Perky Blenders subscriptions start at £6.50 per bag.
5. Pact Coffee
Pact Coffee is the UK coffee subscription service with something for everyone. They offer subscription services for filter coffee, coffee pods, and even espresso. You can also choose between regular coffee and decaf, the quality (between average and gourmet) of your coffee and your preferred flavors. If you're purchasing filter coffee you can even pick a grind. This sheer variety means that plans vary wildly in cost, but they start at an easy £6.95 per delivery.
If you know a serious coffee lover in the UK, any one of these subscriptions can make an excellent gift this holiday season. Most of these services even offer special options for gift subscriptions, helping you choose a coffee type your loved one will really appreciate.
